Als je kids vraagt wat hun favoriete kledingstuk is, hoor je uit het grootste deel van de monden “een spijkerbroek”. Ouders zijn het daar vaak erg mee eens, omdat het zo lekker met alles combineert en gewoon fijn is om in te kunnen spelen. Daarom hebben we deze week de top 10 van de mooiste jeans voor jullie op een rijtje gezet. Deze jeans zijn super vanwege hun wassing, print of  bijzondere details.

Nummer 1 tot en met 5 zijn deze week de meidenjeans en nummer 6 tot en met 10 zijn die voor de jongens. Dit even ter verduidelijking, omdat het bij de plaatjes van de jeans niet altijd duidelijk is of ze voor jongens of meiden bedoeld zijn.

Supertrash Girls - Hipsters like mum

Behind a luxe label for successful, sophisticated females of course stands a successful and sophisticated woman: Olcay Gulsen. With the Supertrash Girls collection she already gives the young ones her sense of style to take along. It's about being a Princess, being playful and light-hearted in an ever fast-moving fashion world.

When did you launch Supertrash Girls?
The first SuperTrash Girls collection was launched late 2011 and instantly became a success both in the Netherlands and internationally. ST. Girls is currently sold in leading retailers such as Harrods, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols and has recently joined forces with famous London department store Liberty on a capsule collection for Spring/Summer 2013. I started our ST. Girls line because I saw a gap in the market for younger girls looking to follow high fashion trends. Equally, the ‘mini me’ look that has been gathering pace for some time truly suits the SuperTrash lifestyle.

How would you describe the style philosophy?
ST. Girls is aimed at the daughters of successful, ambitious SuperTrash women. The collection is designed for the coolest girl in town aged 4 to 16, playfully linked to mummy’s grown-up world. The collections are derived from the SuperTrash collection and focus on young hipsters who are just as fashionable as the ultimate SuperTrash woman.

What was the inspiration for the current SS2013 collection?
The Spring/Summer 2013 collection is based on every girls dream... being a Princess, with fine fabrics and equally fun, surprising details. The collection consists of three themes: Delicate Princess, Geeky Princess and Bold Princess.

What's your favourite look at the moment?
The sand-coloured and tailored trench coat combined with colourful skinny jeans and a pair of neon bow sandals. Elegant and feminine!

And your favourite piece of clothing as a child?
I loved dresses and I enjoyed designing my own. At 14 I used to cut up my mother’s clothes to create my own version of Jean Paul Gaultier’s corsets; that’s when my love of fashion really hit.

Do you have children yourself?
Not yet!

Are you involved in any charity projects?
I look to inspire other people by doing the right thing. Therefore, I’m engaged in several charity projects such as ‘STOP AIDS NOW!’, ‘Challenge Day’, ‘Zorg en welzijn’ and ‘Kids Company’.

Do you have any plans to extend the range? (like toddlers, boys...)
We won’t extend the range for boys because the SuperTrash label is designed specifically for women and girls. My dream for the future is to design a collection for even younger lil’ ones so we can be dedicated to girls and women from 0-45.

SuperTrash helped celebrate Disneyland Paris’ 20th anniversary!

It was Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Donald’s night to shine as SuperTrash joined the likes of Lanvin and Philip Treacy last weekend to celebrate Disneyland Paris’ extended 20th anniversary. Along with eight other international designers – each selected by Disney to represent their country – SuperTrash was asked to create a one-off look to celebrate the ‘Designers of dreams’ event. Our Lion King-inspired dress mixed earthy, rich hues and a bold, fierce silhouette for pure African savannah appeal. We hope Simba approved!

Guests at the VIP event included singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor, model Natalia Vodianova and Sarah Harding from Girls Aloud, among other celebrities and international bloggers, including Susanna Lau from Style Bubble. The night saw looks inspired by every film from Peter Pan to Cinderella, with Lanvin designing exclusively for Minnie Mouse.

Alongside SuperTrash, Lanvin and Philip Treacy, Disneyland Paris asked other international designers to participate in the celebration, including the UK’s Sister by Sibling and Luisa Beccaria for Italy. Russian designer Alexander Terekhov created a look, while Germany was represented by Michalsky, Custo Barcelona for Spain and Jean-Paul Knott created a magical look for Belgium.
