10 KIDS DENIMS TO DIE FOR

BY

WRITTEN BY  OH YEAH BABY

10 kids denims to die for

POPUPSHOP

by

 COOLE PRINTS & VEEL BEACHWEAR
Hit it!

MUM FRIENDS

chiara elisabeth les enfants a paris

Written by Les Enfants a Paris

Nobody gets an award for making friends when they have children. It’s a relatively easy thing to chat up a fellow parent at the park or Starbucks. “How old is he?” these conversations often start off, and then from there they dovetail into topics like baby products, local play gyms, milestones, and if you really hit it off, they conclude with a phone number exchange.
More times than not, though, one’s mum friends are categorised as just that: mum friends. We don’t necessarily consider these women people we would choose to be friends with if we didn’t have children, but rather people we hang out with on occasion because we have children.
I’ve recently realised that there’s a reason for that: We don’t see our mum friends consistently enough.
Anyone who has children knows how the “making plans” game goes. It’s like trying to nail down a date with a celebrity. Someone is always sick; running late; napping; etc. Unless you live next door to said mum friend, odds are you’re not going to see them every week — and therein lies the problem. Because it’s almost like you’re starting all over again every time. How can we do that with others when we only see them every other month? (And when tiny humans are interrupting our every sentence?)
chiaraadrianlesenfantsaparis
When we’re young and childless, it’s easy to make friends. We see the same people at school or work every day; we go to parties; we have the freedom to talk on the phone (or text) at will. When we get older, especially when children become part of the equation, it takes work. But, it pays to do the work. Who wouldn’t want another person in their life that they can genuinely laugh with? Or another person to call on in an emergency? Someone they can be their unadulterated self in front of? Friends, like everything good in life, are always worth the work. Don’t think of meeting up with someone you don’t know all that well at the park on a day that you’re tired and cranky as a chore, think of it as the potential beginning of something really great.
Friendships seem to go through seasons in life, sometimes, they’re like spring when everything is in bloom, and other times they’re sparse like winter. But, at this very moment in my world of friendships, it’s summer. And I want to enjoy every minute of it, and hopefully, with a little effort, make this season last as long as possible.
[We ‘mum friends’ hang out together whilst our children had a blast playing outside and after we came back home to relax as you can see …. All photo’s taken by Russian photographer Daria Skorogodskikh who is living in Paris at the moment.]

ANIMALS

Written by LesEnfants a Paris

Animals play a huge part in our childrens’ lives. From stuffed animals to family pets to film characters, they serve the role of “best friend” from the very beginning of childhood.
They’re also one of the first things our children learn about (remember the song “Old MacDonald”?). The bottom line: animals are truly beloved to any child. So, why not pay tribute to that with a themed present?
We’re wild about these awesomely adorable gifts for your little animal lover, see anything you like?

GOSOAKY, A FABULOUS NEW (DUTCH!) RAINWEAR BRAND

by

GOSOAKY rain clothing
If there’s one weather condition we Dutch have experience with, it is rain. It really does rain quite a lot here, and because we are also a people who happen to like to bike everywhere, we experience the weather conditions quite physically so. We do get soaked all the time!
So you can imagine how excited I was to discover GOSOAKY, a new (fabulous!) rainwear brand for children.  And hey —  how fun to see that this new label comes from Amsterdam!
GOSOAKY‘s first collection consists of a series of really well-designed jackets, pants, overalls and capes. There are traditional, timeless colours like dark blue, bright yellow, and forest green, but there are also fun and fashionable diagonal yellow/grey stripes for a more funky look.
The products seriously look very cool, but of course, the essence of rain clothing is to repel rain, and that’s where GOSOAKY really comes in strong. Fabrics are completely wind-and waterproof. Seams are taped and all zippers are waterproof as well. There are thoughtful details like buttons to narrow the sleeves, protection at the top of the zipper so your chin is protected, and a well-fitting hood with a practical cap. Best of all, some coats have a detachable inner jacket, making the coat warm enough for wintery weather as well! All in all, I’m really expressed with the quality of the GOSOAKY collection, and every tiny detail the designers have thought of.
GOSOAKY rainwear
The GOSOAKY collection currently runs from 0 to 14 years, another fact I love because these coats are also super cool for teens. Sara has a unisex green eagle coat and it really is the perfect everyday coat: practical for Dutch weather, plus hip and stylish as well. (And she is intrigued by the fact that the lining can come out and can be used as a separate coat as well. How practical!)
I’m hoping GOSOAKY will extend their collection to ages 16 or 18 soon so I will be able to get one, too! (Emilie, you will probably fit a size 14 — lucky!)
xxx Esther
PS GOSOAKY is also available at our wonderful boutique OrangeMayonnaise : )

EMILE ET IDA SS16

emile et Ida SS16

Written by Les Enfants a Paris

Emile et Ida is a lovely French children’s brand that offers a refreshing, refined collection, with deliciously retro basics, inspired on folk, rock and romantic trends so dear to the creators. The designs are simple and comfortable, the colours are always subtle, at times muted, or sparkling. Details are valuable, the fabrics are soft and natural, and the patterns are always full of humour.
The beautiful SS16 collection is called ‘Road Trip’.  Inspired by adventure, travel and long Summer holidays, this collection has a lovely nostalgic Summery feel, and features several themes – ‘On The Road’, ‘Yummy Time’ and ‘On Board’.

On The Road / Yummy Time features soft peony pinks, milk white and apricot jersey cotton with a tiny burger dot print and vintage stone-wash chambray, and is inspired by roadside stop-offs and Americana. We love the chambray jumpsuit with the embroidered cat face on the back!

On Board is ocean-themed, featuring Mr. Fish who wears a little hat, just like the book ‘Where is my hat?’!   Nautical navy and stripes complete the look in relaxed sweatpants and Breton style T shirts.

There’s also a sardine print too, we love this cool monochrome illustration (also wearing a little hat!).

ANIMALESQUE BY SARA LOWES

by

Mask and TailI have had these handmade costumes bookmarked for a while and when Florence said she wanted to be Peter Rabbit for World Book Day I was thrilled. Now I had the excuse I needed to order from Animalesque and when her costume arrived both Florence and I were so pleased with it.
RabbitAnimalesque is a London-based company founded by the wonderfully talented Sara Lowes. She has used her creative expertise in textile design to create these beautiful, playful animal costumes and accessories rich in colour and texture bringing childhood play to another dimension.
The Animalesque collection includes owls, rabbits, squirrels, badgers, cats and another one on my wishlist is the dynamic fox costume.
Peter Rabbit with his radishesI am utterly enchanted by the vision Sara Lowes has created and I know Florence is excited to wear her costume again this coming Easter Sunday for our big egg hunt.
Rabbit tailTo see the full collection check out Sara’s website where you can also see some dreamy images under her Woodland Creatures collection and I’m equally smitten by the Travelling Circus collection.
You can purchase the beautiful headdresses also on Orange Mayonnaise.
Here’s to happy endless play!
