THE ANIMALS OBSERVATORY – THE FINCH COLLECTION

The Animals Observatory has just launched a new capsule collection inspired by the Finch School of Art. So what is this school all about? Designer Laia Aguilar pays hommage to this all girl’s art college in New York that was founded in 1900. Mrs. Cosgrave, the director & founder of Finch College said, “My chief object is to awaken Social Consciousness in the girls. I want my graduates to become powers in their communities, not idle fashionable women. I don’t teach these young girls actual Socialism, but Social Activism.” According to the Finch and it’s Future brochure, this college seems to have been quite a revolutionary “community in which each person is a creative participant as a learner, a worker, and a citizen.”

Although the school closed in 1976, the spirit carries on with this beautiful collection for boys and girls. Cherry red, bright blue and off-white retro arty prints make for timeless kids fashion in this new capsule collection by The Animals Observatory (a.k.a. TAO).

The aim of Beau Loves is always the same; to be unique, to stand out from the masses and to march to the beat of their own drum, as all children are unique and designers should celebrate this. Inspired by founder, Faye Wilde’s fearless, fun-loving little boy, Beau, his personality is stamped over every inch of each collection.

The latest collection for AW16 is called ‘I See Galaxies In Your Eyes’ and is inspired by Beau and his love for science, space and galaxies. Throughout the collection there are Beau’s drawings of constellations, mixed with digital prints of watercolour full moons and galaxies, and block printed ghosts, love hands and masks. This season sees a mix of loose modern cut shapes with an edge, in midnight blue, jet black and charcoal contrasting with sharp white and dove grey, perfect for mixing and matching whether boy or girl.

The world of children’s fashion is as much fabulous as it is fun! And as Beau is getting older so the themes of each collection and the variety of products grows with him, which we Love…

DE LEUKSTE KINDERSCHOENEN VOOR DEZE WINTER

Het wordt steeds kouder! En daarom kun je de herfstvakantie prima benutten voor het aanschaffen van nieuwe kinderschoenen voor komende winter. Kleine Rotterdammer heeft de leukste exemplaren voor je verzameld die je gewoon in Rotterdam kunt kopen.

En tadaa, dit zijn ze dan!

#1. Als ik deze schoenen zie, vind ik het bijna jammer dat ik een boys-mum ben. Je koopt deze stoere laarsjes bij Dr. Martens.

#2. Wat is een kind zonder regenlaarsjes? Wij hebben thuis al meerdere kleuren van deze Bergstein’s voorbij zien komen. 

#3. Voor de allerkleinste voetjes: deze gevoerde schoentjes van Little Indians zijn te leuk!

#4. Stoere meiden doen het prima met deze laarzen van Ugg. 

#5. Wij zijn groot fan van de pantoffels van Collegien. Deze zwarte exemplaren zijn verkrijgbaar bij Orange Mayonnaise.

#6. Schoenen met klittenband: altijd goed. Deze zwarte VEJA sneakers zijn te koop bij Orange Mayonnaise.

#7. Nog meer slofjes voor kleine voetjes. Deze schattige witte exemplaren zijn van Tiny Cottons en je shopt ze bij Orange Mayonnaise.

#8. Dit paar Uggs konden wij zelf niet laten staan voor Ruben. Lekker warm, een rits aan de zijkant en nog eens stoer ook.

NUNUNU WINTERJAS NIET OVERDREVEN, MAAR GEWOON TÉ GEK.

Gewoon té gek!
Even toe aan iets anders dan een simpel bomberjack of kort jack? Toe aan iets nieuws maar niet te overdreven? Dan is de Nununu winterjas die Guus heeft misschien wel de perfecte winterjas voor je zoon en/of dochter. 

Wie denkt te moeten kiezen tussen functioneel & fashion bij een winterjas heeft het goed mis. De met donsgevoerde winterjas is ontzettend warm, zonder overdreven dik te zijn waardoor kinderen hun bewegingsvrijheid niet verliezen. 

Met de ubercoole details zoals; een schuine rits, een oversized hoodie, en duimgaten zodat er een halve handschoen kan worden gecreëerd zijn de details waar ik heel blij van word.

De Nununu winterjas is er in 2 verschillende modellen. Een korte versie, dat is het model dat Guus heeft, of een long winterjacket ( hetzelfde, maar dan alleen tot net over de knie) die ook echt waanzinnig stylish is, maar die vond ik net te lang voor Guus. 

De Nununu winterjas heeft een onwijs tof grapje aan de binnenkant, ze kunnen de jas als rugtas dragen met de speciale banden die binnen in zitten. Voor de momenten dat ze het warm hebben en even hun jas uit willen trekken. 

Ik hoef deze winter Guus niet na te roepen om z’n jas aan te doen, hij staat nu al te trappelen dat het koud genoeg is om hem aan te mogen.

MISS RUBY TUESDAY - AS IF

Ohlala, dit merk hoeven we natuurlijk niet aan je voor te stellen. Maar hoe mooi & verfijnd we dit merk ook vinden, Komen we erachter dat we er nog niet over geschreven hebben dit winterseizoen. En zeg je winter, dan zeg je knits. En ook daar ben je bij Miss Ruby Tuesday aan het juiste adres.

De vesten, sjaals en mutsen zijn “om in te duiken”. Altijd weer met de Paris Chic look van dit oer-Hollandse merk. En wil je “twinnen” met je dochten dan kan dat! De damescollectie Ruby Tuesday bevat ook weer de mooiste items.

Vernoemd naar een track van de Roling Stones. Maar het zijn vooral de mooie stoffen, subtiele prints, het weglaten van overbodige details, de teksten, de leggings en kraagjes en natuurlijk de fantastische knits waar wij voor vallen.

FALL FASHION FROM ORANGE MAYONNAISE

Orange Mayonnaise is a Dutch boutique stocked to the brim with the latest kids’ fashion. With nearly one hundred amazing brands represented, this shop is a great destination if you’re looking for funky urban wear for your family! I especially like the fact that sizing goes up to 16 — perfect if you’re shopping for pre-teens like me.

Annika, the lady behind Orange Mayonnaise (and mother-of-three, and freelance fashion designer), put together an outfit for Sara that I really love. Starting point was the wide Little Remix skirt our team had already spotted in her shop when the collections first came in — what a fabulous piece! Annika combined it with a simple striped shirt by Finger in the Nose and for layering, a chunky-knit gilet by fellow-Dutch label Miss Ruby Tuesday.



I think this combination works so well — it’s a very sweet and innocent look, but still cool and fashionable (she’s 11, after all). The separate items can be easily combined with other clothes, so she will get a lot of wear out of them. The skirt is perfect for the holidays, too!
